The political fallout in Pakistan has consequences for Western based Christians as moderate religion is crushed from Lebanon to Lahore.

Sometimes, from a media perspective, terrible things happen just at the right time. A political assassination during the ‘dead news’ time around Christmas and New Year is always welcomed by journalists wanting to report on anything of substance other than madcap holiday stories.

The tragic slaying of Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto fell right into that time of the news cycle, guaranteeing news prominence for the average Australian to digest between rounds of left over turkey sandwiches and Christmas cake. (more…)

Beware of false prophets

A few weeks ago, Pastor Danny Nahlia, self-appointed spokesman for God made a prophetic declaration. He announced that God had told him that the Coalition would be appointed for a 5th term; that John Howard would be elected as Prime minister. He also described a vision in which he saw Jesus ‘anointing’ Peter Costello and placing governmental leadership upon his shoulders.

Hmmmmm - power, and the need to be aligned with it, can have a strange effect on people.

The votes are in and the people of Australia have had their say on the matter. (more…)

About Pumpkin…

There is nothing less than tragedy all about little ‘Pumpkin’, her mum’s death and what on the surface looks like the heartless abandonment of her by her father.

The tragedy, the details of which will no doubt continue to flow, is a real life nightmare for little ‘pumpkin pie’, Qian Xun: and a publishing boom for newspapers.

Not that you could blame the media for telling the story… it’s there to be told. (more…)
